made in USA wind turbines in demand overseas

This week The SBA (Small Business Administration) honored Soutwest Windpower, the company that manufacturers the Air Breeze and Skystream 3.7 small scale wind turbines. The SBA named Southwest Windpower as the 2009 National Exporter of the Year. We can all agree that America’s manufacturing base is being eroded by products made overseas. Although people from all over the world are demanding wind energy systems made in the USA by Southwest Windpower. It’s great to hear about a U.S. based manfacturer doing well exporing products to other countries around the world. I can tell you by first hand experience that many people around the world are buying the Air Breeze, in fact we have customers in France and Germany who have purchased and installed the Air Breeze and are using an American made product to generate clean energy. I’m glad to hear that the SBA is recognizing businesses that are still exporting in this competitive global environment. What do you think about the award Southwest Windpower...

Purchase a Skystream 3.7, get up to $4,000 in tax incentives

Southwest Windpower, a leading manufacturer of small scale wind turbines such as the SkyStream 3.7 grid tie wind power system played a huge role in the passage of the new legislation which offers a federal tax credit for qualified small scale wind turbines. The landmark legislation was part of the economic bailout bill passed in early October 2008 and is a major leap for small wind industry because this is the first federal incentive for small wind power systems since 1985. The Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for small scale wind will be available for wind generators installed through 2016 and will give the small scale wind power system owner up to $4,000 federal tax credit. Andy Kruse, founder of Southwest Windpower fought tirelessly in congress to make sure Small Scale Wind Power Systems were included in the extension of the renewable energy ITC. The result of the legislation’s success will provide thousands of new jobs and harbor an environment which would generate a 40% annual growth rate of the small scale wind industry. To you, the person who is considering a small scale wind turbine like the Skystream 3.7 the new tax credit reduces the total upfront cost of installing a small scale wind power system, making the technology more affordable for people in the USA. What do you think about this legislation? Will it entice you to produce your own clean...

Rebates in Nevada for Wind Power Systems!

Wind Power just got more attractive in Nevada because utility companies are now extending the same rebates extended to customers who installed solar panels to people installing wind power systems. The Nevada Utilities will pay consumers .50 per watt up to ,000 for installing a wind turbine system. Wind Turbine systems such as the Southwest WindPower Skystream 3.7 can generate clean power for homes, small businesses, farms, schools and other public buildings. The rebates are going to cost Nevada utilities $23.3 million dollars and there is high demand for the rebates statewide therefore the rebates are expected to go quickly. These new rebates will be released on Monday and some people are predicting all the rebates will be reserved on the first day. Customers in urban areas or home owner associations may hit roadblocks because people may object with tall or noisy wind generators. Clark County’s building department has changed zoning laws to accommodate wind turbines in some residential zones. Other counties in Nevada are revising their building codes to be more wind power friendly. This is great news! We love seeing more states offering these types of rebates and making the permitting process for wind power turbines more flexible. We’re seeing local governments making changes for the better to encourage development of renewable energy power generation. You can learn more about the rebate program at the SolarGenerations website Most wind turbines need at least 10 mph average wind speeds to make financial sense, which is the first criteria when figuring out if wind power is right for you. To measure your wind speed you can purchase a wind speed meter or for a more general idea of the average wind speeds in your area you could refer to a wind resource map for free. What do you think about the rebate program in Nevada? Would you install a wind turbine in your backyard? Do you think your neighbors would mind seeing a wind turbine tower from their...

An affordable small scale wind turbine.

The Air Breeze by Southwest Windpower is a small 17 pound wind turbine for remote and low power applications. The Air Breeze packs a punch with it’s blades designed to operate quieter and only takes wind speeds of 6 MPH to start generating power. The wind generator can produce power anywhere from 6 MPH – 110 MPH wind speeds giving you a wide range of wind speeds to maximize your return on investment. A major improvement over other small scale wind turbines in terms of power output at low wind speeds and ease of operation. The Air Breeze will need a pole, inverter and batteries (if you a planning a stand alone system) for a compete system. At 28MPH the Air Breeze is rated to produce 200 watts, thats quite the power for the small unit. In terms of kWh (kilowatt hours) produced the graph above shows the pure effectiveness at lower wind speeds. Has anyone had experience with small scale wind? have you considered wind power for your home or...
