a new Declaration of Independence

On July 4th, 1776 our great nation declared Independence from England, this day marked a significant shift in world history. One of the most famous phrases in the Declaration of Independence was “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”, which is a phrase honored by many countries around the world. To this day Americans, continue to protect to live life protecting the values set by the founding fathers, “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. Although today we face another challenge that can disrupt the way we enjoy our freedom. When gas prices go up, people start to cut back on the things they enjoy to do, they cut back on their freedom. Energy has a python like grip around our lifestyle, we make adjustments in our lives based on the cost of energy. Wouldn’t you agree the people who supply our energy are controlling our freedom? Today, we aren’t fighting for freedom from England but we’re fighting multinational corporations for Energy Independence. Let’s face it, as a country we’re addicted to energy and we depend on the hand that feeds us energy everyday. It’s time we write a ” Declaration of Energy Independence“, a vision that preserves our right to purse Life, Liberty and Happiness by empowering you to control your own energy destiny through solar energy, wind power and renewable fuels. Happy 4th of...

family sends solar power back into the grid

I ran into an article by KTBS 3 today that described an average family in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana that purchased a solar power system three weeks ago which offsets 50% of their electric usage. The grid connected solar power system takes advantage of net metering which allows the family to “bank” renewable energy credits when their home is producing a surplus. When everyone is out of the house during business / school hours the home will be producing electricity and pushing it back into the grid. The Niten family says that their primary motivation is to lower their carbon footprint by generating their own clean power versus traditional sources that leave us dependent on foreign entities and do harm to the environment. Natural Gas and coal are traditional forms of power generations which are not “clean” like solar power. It’s being efficient, helping the environment and empowering the family to be independent from traditional electricity companies and raising rates. The quote that got me interested in the story was when Tommy Niten said,“I possibly plan on adding to the solar system later on and upgrading it to produce more of my power.” Solar Power is scalable, which is something we here at often tell consumers, many people call in inquiring about solar and are determined to eliminate 100% of their usage right off the bat with solar panels, although realistically, it is way out of their budget to do so. If most consumers set small goals, to buy 25% of their electricity capacity at a time and make solar power a staged approach, all of a sudden the investment looks much realistic. This story is not bragging about some great big project, but a small one that can make a difference for a family and leads them one step closer to producing their entire electric needs and truly be energy...

America’s Energy Independence Day

Today, all across America people are celebrating the birth and independence of a country that was built on a great foundation. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th, 1776, letting the Kingdom of Great Britain know that we are on our OWN moving forward. As people of America get ready for their picnics, fireworks and fun, do we realize today we are far from being independent? We’re moving into a globalized world with a power play for energy resources… because of the advances in technology and communications the world is more interconnected now than ever. Energy is something we need every second of our lives and we’re importing most of it from foreign entities, who have a choke hold on the American public, so when the rubber meets the road, are we truly and independent nation? I think not! Our lack of Federal support for renewable energy resources such as solar panels, wind turbines and hydrogen fuel cells and other methods we can produce our own clean energy is hindering our independence. The government not supporting renewable energy resources just proves how far our government has drifted away from the foundations of this country, freedom and Independence. So as you celebrate your Fourth of July, please think about how we can remain independent moving forward. Renewable energy is the key to our future prosperity and Independence as a nation, so please encourage your friends and family to looking into green energy not only to benefit mother earth but to keep our Independence moving forward. Happy 4th! Enjoy...
